This week, we gathered in the charming city of Braganza, Portugal, for the 7th BeonNAT General Assembly, where partners from all over Europe came together to review our progress and brainstorm new ideas. These two days were packed with meaningful discussions, exciting updates, and collaborative workshops that left everyone inspired and motivated for the next steps in our journey.
The first day was all about teamwork and reflection. Each partner presented updates on their respective work packages, showcasing the progress we’ve made so far.
It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come in our mission to transform underutilized tree and shrub species into high-value bio-based products. From fibers and bioplastics to biochemicals and biochar, our work is unlocking the potential of biomass to contribute to a more sustainable bioeconomy.
Together, we also addressed challenges, brainstormed solutions, and planned the steps needed to keep the momentum going. Days like this remind us of the power of collaboration and how much we can achieve when we work together.
The second day was a hands-on experience, as we joined a workshop on High-Value Bioproducts from Underutilised Biomass Resources and Bioresidues, hosted by IPB-CIMO.
This session brought together not only BeonNAT partners but also representatives from related projects like Sustainext, FIBSUN, CisWEFE-NEX, MIDAS, and Up4Health. Together, we explored ways to turn biomass into valuable products like fibers, biochemicals, biochar, bioplastics, composites, and absorbents.
Key highlights included:
– How innovative technologies are reshaping the bioeconomy.
– The importance of aligning our work with Europe’s goals for decarbonisation, circular economy, and sustainability.
– The value of collaboration in accelerating research and scaling up solutions.
Workshops like this are more than just knowledge-sharing; they’re about building partnerships, exchanging ideas, and pushing boundaries. It’s exciting to see what we can accomplish when we combine our efforts and expertise!
As we wrap up this productive gathering, we’re excited to keep moving forward with the BeonNAT project. This assembly not only showcased the incredible progress we’ve made but also reminded us of the important role we play in shaping a greener future.
